Nixon Lume Watch FAQs
Lume is shorthand for a luminous phosphorescent solution applied to a watch's dial, indices, and hands to create a glow-in-the-dark effect. It works by storing light energy that activates electrons, which then release that stored energy as a visible glow.
Lume charges from any light exposure, including sunlight and regular indoor lighting, though the intensity and duration of the glow depend on how strong that light source is. Direct sunlight will charge lume faster and produce a brighter, longer-lasting glow compared to dimmer indoor light. Either way, the lume needs some light exposure beforehand to glow once it's dark.
Yes! Lume watches from Nixon are available in both men's and women's sizes, with many of the watches being suitable for both genders. Larger watches like the 51-30 Chrono are generally recommended for men, while smaller watches like the Small Time Teller are more feminine. However, the watch you choose is totally dependent on your personal style and wrist size.
Lume watches from Nixon are not 100% waterproof. However, all of the lume watches in this collection have a water rating that tells you how water resistant it is. You can find the water rating for each watch at the product page level. Always make sure to check the water rating of your watch before you get it wet.
